Duterte Thanksgiving Day Held in Davao
Aug 16, 2017
On August 12th, 2017, Duterte Thanksgiving Day (a celebration to thank OFWs and others who supported Duterte's presidential campaign) was held in President Duterte's home city of Davao. Major Filipino singers performed on the stage one after another, and the Noah Social Innovation Foundation presented aid money to disaster victims in Malawi. Mr. Tadashi Izumi attended from Japan. The supporter party that started at lunchtime continued for hours. It was a grand event in the spotlight. The venue was the Crocodile Park outdoor hall, one of President Duterte's favorite places that is often used for outdoor speeches. Full security measures were taken that day with the military and police on guard. President Duterte arrived with his daughter Sara Duterte, who is the current mayor of Davao, but the President's and Mayor's speeches were hindered by a phone call, and they were unable to appear on stage. The two Noah Social Innovation Foundation representatives were later invited to the City Hall, where they were honored. Current National Police Director General Dela Rosa also joined the event, was invited to the all-night party, and forged close ties with other guests.
