2 Million Philippine peso donation to the families of soldiers who died in the Marawi

Sep 17, 2017

As of September 13th, 2017, the Marawi crisis between Isis (a radical Islamic organization which formed in Iraq and Syria) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the Marawi region of Mindanao, Philippines is still ongoing. The Noah Foundation held a donation ceremony at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon. Tadashi Izumi was in attendance all the way from Japan as well. A donation of 2 million Philippine pesos (approximately 4.5 million Japanese yen) was given with hopes of helping those who have found themselves in dire situations due to the ongoing Marawi crisis. The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Eduardo Ano, gave a speech including words of thanks for the donation along with an explanation of the current state of affairs of the Marawi crisis. Many prominent figures in the Philippines, including Bruce Rivera, a lawyer and supporter of the Duterte administration, are members of the Noah Foundation. (General Eduardo Ano has led the Armed Forces of the Philippines since the Aquino administration, and he was the head of the security team for the Japanese Emperor’s visit to the country. He was chosen once again as the army’s leader by the current president, Duterte, and continues to hold his position of leadership there.)
